What is Hair Porosity?

Porosity refers to your hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture. It is determined by the condition of the hair cuticle—the flexible outer layer of the hair shaft.

• Low Porosity: Cuticles are tightly bound. Hair resists moisture and chemical penetration.
• Normal Porosity: Cuticles are slightly raised, allowing moisture in and out in a balanced way.
• High Porosity: Cuticles are highly raised or damaged (often from previous bleaching, heat, or hard water). Hair absorbs chemicals instantly but loses moisture just as fast, making it prone to breakage.

How the Digital Scan Works

Using a specialized macroscopic camera, we analyze your hair shaft at 200x magnification. The digital scan reveals the exact state of your cuticle layer, identifying micro-tears, metal build-up, and structural weaknesses that are completely invisible to the naked eye.

Why It's Crucial Before Coloring

If a stylist applies bleach to highly porous, compromised hair without knowing its true structural state, the result is catastrophic breakage—the dreaded "chemical haircut."
